The artist:
Member of The Nordic Watercolour Society NAS, Mounir Ben Ammar was born in Tunisia, began drawing and painting at early age, won his first price and began solo exhebiting at the age of sixteen.
Moving first to France to study mathematics and to see, experience and learn more about art, then settling down in Sweden, Stockholm where he lives, teaches mathematics and paints.
More than 40 years of experience in painting, mostly in oil, but the last 13 years he has been working with Watermedia, mainly Watercolour and Gouache.
Both Watercolour and Gouache are non toxic, earth-friendly,light to carry arroud and easy to paint with on location. Their alikenes, differences and versatility made them mediums of choice for Mounir Ben Ammar.
"Watercolour unpredictable, translucent and light. Gouache heavy, opaque and vivid. Opposites and complements in the same time, They appeal to my creative energy. and satisfy my unexpected urges to paint and to make a mark. They both offer a challenge to explore and a playfull way to work with".
